I would have given these communication devices a 4 star rating however, they do not hold up as advertised - which is not much of a surprise. I took these on vacation with me while traveling from New Orleans to the Smoky Mountains. We took two cars and used the devices to communicate - heck, it saves your cell phone usage! It gets about a mile when the reception starts to get fuzzy; Two miles is pushing it - and this is on straight and open road. Even changing frequencies does not seem to help Unfortunately, the battery on these things goes pretty quick if you are a talker; even being brand new I found that the batteries needed to be recharged daily - about 8 hours with normal usage. If you are looking for a cheap, inexpensive way to communicate between cars while traveling - or maybe just give the kids something fun to play with around the neighborhood, these do come in quite handy for simple communication. Believe it or not, they did the job exactly how I figured they would and they were quite useful for the trip that we took. Had the batteries held up with the excessive talking, I would be giving these 4 stars. If they turned water into beer, I would give it a 5 star - but that's just wishing, isn't it?
